
Thank you to everybody at Direct Nursing Services Ltd for organising a wonderful evening at the Manor Park Country House, Clydach with half the proceeds coming to Ty Olwen. A special thank you also to Kevin Johns MBE for compering the evening, and organising the customary “Heads and Tails”, the raffle and an amazing ‘Auction’ which on their own raised hundreds of pounds.

Ty Olwen Summer Ball
The First ‘Annual Ty Olwen (Late) Summer Ball’ was held at the Village Hotel SA1 last Saturday 13th September when over 100 people attended. It is hoped that £1400 will have been raised for Ty Olwen during the evening and thanks must go to the organisers for doing such a fantastic job with everybody enjoying the evening . Plans are already being made for next years ‘Annual Ty Olwen Mid Summer Ball’ in June 2015.









Eddie Tucker of Killay
Eddie Tucker of Killay Funeral Directors have raised hundreds of pounds for local charities over the last few years by selling and exchanging second hand books and holding coffee mornings at their Killay Precinct office. They have now decided to support Ty Olwen as their next charity and look forward to welcoming friends old and new to look at their books and also welcome any donations of books.
U3A Jivers
Thanks to the ‘jivers’ of the U3A and their friends, including a group from Essex, and especially Mr Gerwyn Thomas for arranging an evening of dancing at the St. Phillips Community Centre recently. The proceeds of the evening came to £300 which was donated to Ty Olwen Chairman Helen Murray on the evening.

In Memory of Elizabeth Hopes
Thank you to the Blue Scar Club in Pontrhydyfen for hosting a Charity Fundraising Night last Bank Holiday Sunday in memory of the late Liz Hopes who passed away in Ty Olwen in June this year. A magnificent £2542 was raised and thanks must go to Sharon Vanstone and Christine Vaughan for their organisational skills and who along with Liz’s husband David recently visited Ty Olwen to present a cheque.
Cash boost in wife’s memory
A SWANSEA man has donated £1,200 to a hospice in memory of his wife who died six weeks ago. Jeffrey Fussell, 82, and daughters Linda Payne and Julie Tobb decided to ask for donations for Ty Olwen after Muriel Fussell spent her last six weeks in the facility. Mr Fussell said: “Muriel spent the last six weeks in Ty Olwen and the care she received was first class. “The staff were absolutely brilliant and couldn’t do enough for her.”While I was there I painted one of the views from Ty Olwen and wanted to donate this to the hospice as well to say thank you. We cannot thank the hospice enough for their help. My daughters are now planning to raise more money for the facility.”

Parachuting Grandmother
Mrs Margaret Evans, Aged 78, made the daring leap out of an aeroplane at Swansea Airport recently to raise money for Ty Olwen. Her Grandson, Sam, joined her and they are seen here presenting a cheque for £1400 to Mrs Margaret Bartlett and Miss Delyth Gough of Ty Olwen.

Clwb Rygbi Abercraf
Members of Abecrave Rugby Club have been raising money for Ty Olwen, including a Sponsored Bike Ride in May this year and have presented a cheque for £1000 to Ty Olwen Chairman Helen Murray at the club recently. The cheque was presented by Phil Davies whilst club members looked on. 

Max Marathon Donation
Olchfa School Sixth Former Max Addey called at Ty Olwen to present a cheque for £1029-35 to Chairman Helen Murray, sponsorship money collected from family, friends and staff and friends at Olchfa for running the Portsmouth marathon in memory of family neighbour Sue Proctor who was looked after by Ty Olwen. Max now heads off to Edinburgh University to study Sport, Exercise Science and Physiology and we wish him all the best for the future.
