Prisoners Support

There was much excitement at H.M.Prison, Swansea on Wednesday 18th April when Swansea City F. C. Manager Brendan Rogers and Goalkeeper Michel Vorm paid a visit. They were very generous with their time talking and shaking hands with many of the prisoners and staff. They signed numerous autographs on the many items put before them. Before touring the prison they presented to Mrs Margaret Bartlett, on behalf of the prisoners, a cheque for Ty Olwen for over £1,500. This was the proceeds of money raised by the prisoners who amongst other things ran a ’10k race’ and organised an ‘It’s a Knockout’ type competition.

Thank you Guys.

SWANSEA City boss Brendan Rodgers has met fundraisers who have done their bit — from behind bars.

The manager talked to staff and inmates in Swansea Prison to thank them for their efforts in aid of the Ty Olwen Hospice in Morriston Hospital.

The prisoners have raised £1,554 for the unit with a range of events.

A spokesman for Swansea Prison said: “Swansea is a local prison, and the prisoners felt the need to support a local charity and remind people there is always a good side to everyone irrespective of the life they lead.”
