R.J.Davies Funeral Directors

Jazz Richards presenting the ball to competition winner Nof Dauria with Charlotte Durke looking on

Mrs Charlotte Durke, a funeral arranger with R.J.Davies Funeral Directors in Swansea has been raising money for Ty Olwen for the second time this year. Having first hand experience of the care given by Ty Olwen staff (she previously described them as ‘Angels without wings’ ) she has decided to support the appeal again. Her employers supplied the ball which she then had signed by the Swansea City Football team, thanks to a contact with the ‘Swans’ and ran a ‘Spot the Ball Competition’. She raised £100 which was doubled by a contribution from the Co-operative Group Booster Fund. this brings her total so far to £250.

Quadrant Collection

The collection box at the Quadrant Shopping Centre in Swansea was a tremendous success and thank you to each and every one of you who made a donation, big and small, this way. We were completely overawed by the number of donations of £5, £10 and even £20 that were in the box. A special thank you to the Quadrant manager Mr Ian Kirkpatrick for allowing us to use the Quadrant as a collection point and to his staff for keeping an eye on it for us. The fantastic total of £2186 was raised during the months of April, May and June.

Tremendous Result at Clyne Gardens

For the second year running the tea tent at ‘Clyne in Bloom’ during May at Clyne Gardens proved to be a huge success and our thanks go to all the volunteers who gave up their time to man the tent and to all the members of the public who came to enjoy their hospitality. During the month, despite some bad weather, nearly £6000 was taken. On the final Sunday just over £500 was raised and a further £500 was donated by Barclays Bank Match Funding Scheme to make the total nearly £6500

Congratulations and Thank You

James and Wendy Murray on their wedding day at St. Fagan's Castle

Thank you to James and Wendy who rather than give favours at their wedding chose to give all their guests a Ty Olwen pin badge and make a donation to the Trust in memory of loved ones. James, the son of trustees Helen and Paul Murray and grandson of Margaret and the late Mick Bartlett, has been involved in working to support Ty Olwen from an early age. Wendy has already joined the ‘team’ in working for Ty Olwen – long may this continue. We wish them a long and happy married life together.
