Julia’s Skydive
I thought I was going to be nervous but on the day was just very excited. Skydive Swansea were fantastic, so professional, and my instructor, Paul, talked me through the process so that I felt safe at all times. I had lots of support on the day from friends, family and also staff and volunteers from Ty Olwen, who turned up on the day to watch.
The skydive took place at Swansea Airport on Saturday 22nd September.
My Dad died of cancer 12 years ago and I know how traumatic the experience is both for the patient and their family. Ty Olwen does an amazing job, supporting adults with cancer and a wide range of other life limiting illnesses, and their families, in the unit, at home, at our day centre and also those who are inpatients in Singleton, Morriston and Neath Port Talbot Hospitals. Most people are unaware that 50% of patients who come in to the unit are treated then return home. It is all about improving the quality of life of our patients. Ty Olwen Trust heavily supports the service and needs to raise £400,000 a year to maintain the level of care we all believe our patients deserve.
