Tabernacle Morriston Choir continue to support Ty Olwen

Members of Tabernacle Morriston Choir have been supporting Ty Olwen for many years and our Chairman and Vice Chairman were recently invited to attend their Sunday night rehearsal to collect their latest donation. A cheque for £485 was presented to Paul Murray by Deputy Conductor James Prideaux on behalf of Conductor Jonathan Rogers, Chairman David Morgan and members of the choir. They raised the money by making a donation in lieu of Christmas cards among the members and from the proceeds of their Christmas Carol Service held at Tabernacle when they were joined by the Morriston Ladies Choir and Morriston RFC Choir. Helen Murray thanked the choir members on behalf of all the staff and patients and explained how important the contribution of organisations was towards the massive £400,000 which needed to be raised each year to continue to support the excellent work done by everybody at Ty Olwen.

In Memory of Rose Anderson

Rose Anderson's cousin Diane with President Margaret Bartlett

We recently received a wonderful letter from Ricky Moonan in Scotland expressing his grateful thanks for the way the staff at Ty Olwen had looked after his sister Rose Anderson in 2012. Diane, Rose’s cousin, recently visited the unit to ‘officially’ hand over a cheque for £400, the result of fund raising that Ricky had carried out, in Scotland, in memory of his beloved  sister.

Tom climbing Kilimanjaro for Ty Olwen

My story

Hello, I’m Thomas Goss and I’m an undergraduate English Language student at Swansea University. On July 1st 2013, I will be climbing the tallest mountain in Africa as part of a small team. It will be an extremely difficult challenge and I am hoping to raise a considerable amount of money for my chosen charity, Ty Olwen. I understand that it is difficult during such financial times, but If you have time…please read about my chosen charity and If you can afford to, donate. All donations will help this great cause. Thanks for your time. Tom.

New Year Message

Mrs Helen Murray - Ty Olwen Trust Chairman

At the start of 2013 may I, as Chairman of the Ty Olwen Trust, thank all those individuals and organisations who supported Ty Olwen in any way last year. Without the magnificent work done by so many we would not be able to provide the £400,000 to maintain the Ty Olwen service and ensure all our patients receive the best possible and most appropriate care.

The challenge for the Ty Olwen Trust during this year is to work tirelessly to ensure our fundraising is maintained and that we continue to raise the profile of the work of Ty Olwen. This cannot be possible without the generous continued support from you the public. So my new year message must be to ask you to continue to work for Ty Olwen in whatever way you can – fundraise for us, make a donation, join our fundraising group or volunteer with us. If your new year’s resolution is to make a will and put your affairs in order please remember us. May I remind you that every penny raised stays in your local area and that at least 95p in every pound donated goes to where it can make a real difference to the care of our patients in the unit, in hospital and in their own homes.

With all good wishes for a happy, healthy and peaceful 2013.

Helen Murray
