Fun Day at Loughor Rugby Club

A fun day at Loughor Rugby Club, which included an over 35’s and Junior Team matches between the Loughor and Gorseinon Rugby Clubs, has raised £6,000 for Ty Olwen in memory of Keith Hammond who died in 2013. One of the event  organisers, Marc O’Kelly, Curriculum Leader for Sport at Gower College along with Keith’s wife Debra, daughter Natasha, brother Ian and son in law to be Matthew Lowe visited Ty Olwen to present a cheque to trustees Delyth Gough and Paul Murray. Keith’s brother Ian said that “he had never seen so many people at the club before, all who had come to support the family”. Debra added that the family “had been overwhelmed when family and friends had donated over £1,700 in lieu of flowers at the time of his funeral and were totally amazed and grateful for the support received for this event”. A similar event has already been pencilled in for May 2015.

In Memory of Diane John

When Diane John passed away in January this year the family asked that donations in lieu of flowers be for Ty Olwen, a charity close to her heart, and who she had raised money for through the Village Hotel Aqua Club. Her husband Viv then asked the family if they would continue to raise money in her memory and on the 6th April, her birthday, over 70 people, young and old turned out on a 56 mile sponsored bike ride from Port Tennant to Pembrey and back. This was then followed up with a Charity Evening at Hookers Dyer in Port Tennant with entertainment, auctions and raffles etc. A total of £6,524 was raised on the day and son in law Neil Thomas, granddaughter Annie Thomas and John Dean visited Ty Olwen to present a cheque to Sisters Rebecca Bowers and Erica Tutton and Paul Murray, Vice Chairman of the Ty Olwen Trust. 006

Kirstie Lock is Fundraising for Ty Olwen

http://www.justgiving.com/Kirstie-Locke

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. PLEASE READ..

As many of you may know, I worked at Ty Olwen for several weeks as part of my nursing degree. During my time there, many of the patients and their families touched my heart.

Ty Olwen is a hospice at the base of Morriston Hospital, looking after patients with life limiting diseases.  The nurses, doctors, physiotherapists, health care assistants, OT’s and the volunteers are absolute angels. I have never come across a team like the one in Ty Olwen, and was so blessed to be a part of it for just a few weeks.

St. Peter’s Church, Cockett Art and Sugarcraft Annual Exhibition

Members of the Art and Sugarcraft classes, held weekly at St. Peter’s Church, Cockett, held their Annual Exhibition at the church this weekend and have chosen Ty Olwen to benefit from the proceeds. The exhibits of Sugarcraft were quite outstanding and there was a fine collection, of many styles, of paintings on display.

Graham Mills writes:

It is a pleasure to be able make  a donation to Ty-Olwen Trust and show support for all the good work that is carried out by everyone involved.

I have been on the committee of the Swansea Branch of the Federation of Master Builders for over ten years and we hold annual charity dinner dances, donating to worthy causes. I was Branch President when the last dinner was held, at the Marriot Hotel last November, and it was up to me to choose the charity. My wife reminded me of the help my late father had at Ty-Olwen when he was very ill, some  20 years ago.

So this is a chance to thank you.

Regards

Graham Mills
