Holy Cross Charity Shop Donation
The ladies of the Holy Cross Charity Shop, Gendros have presented their 2014 donation to Ty Olwen Trust Vice Chairman Paul Murray at their shop next to the Holy Cross Roman Catholic Church in Gendros. Rosa, one of the organisers, said that the ladies had decided this year to support a local charity and had chosen Ty Olwen in recognition of the wonderful work that is done by them. They presented a cheque for £1,426 which has been raised by running raffles, coffee mornings and some very generous donations.

Staff, family and friends prepare for the Fete
The staff and family and friends at Ty Olwen are preparing for the Ty Olwen Christmas Fete taking place on Monday December 1st starting at 10-30am
Holy Cross Roman Catholic Church, Gendros
Thank you to the ladies of Holy Cross RC Church, Gendros-Charity Shop, who have been raising money for Ty Olwen and held a “Coffee and Cake Morning” recently. Special thanks to Rosa, Eileen, Val, Lynda, Ellen, Julie, Yvonne, Mickey, Sam, Catherine and Gemma. I am told that a substantial donation is to be officially handed over next week so look out for the result soon!

Martin’s (Half) Marathon
Ty Olwen Volunteer Martin Mahoney completed his 10th Cardiff Half Marathon recently and dedicated this years run to family friend Steve Washer who sadly passed away in Ty Olwen just a few days before the event. Steve’s wife Wendy and family got involved with raising sponsorship for Martin and along with Martin’s usual very generous supporters a total of £1874 was raised. Martin and his support team, wife Julia and mother in law Muriel, visited the Unit to hand over his sponsorship money to Trustee Delyth Gough and Staff Nurse Adrian Hardinge
Gorseinon Carnival Presentation Evening
Paul and Helen Murray recently attended the Gorseinon Carnival Presentation Evening and had the opportunity to thank the Carnival Committee for supporting Ty Olwen in this years event. Despite atrocious weather on the day a substantial amount of money was raised for Ty Olwen and the Loughor Inshore Lifeboat and with some matched funding from HSBC we received a total of £1250. 
Yorkshire Building Society
Customers at the Yorkshire Building Society were asked to nominate charities to receive a donation of £100 at the opening of their newly refurbished offices. Ty olwen were fortunate to be one of those selected, not for the first time, and in appreciation of all Ty Olwen does President Margaret Bartlett was asked to formerly open the Branch by cutting a ribbon.
Friendship
The Friendship Theatre Group have donated over £155,000 to local charities to date from the profits of their annual pantomimes and this year Ty Olwen were nominated to receive a donation of £500 by Committee member Alan Williams. Alan’s partner Hugh Bowen passed away in January this year and had been looked after by the Ty Olwen team. Committee member Jonathan Evans made the presentation to Helen Murray, Ty Olwen Trust Chairman, at a recently held Presentation Evening when over £5,000 was donated to local charities following the success of their 2014 Pantomime Dick Whittington and they look forward to a similar successful production of Sleeping Beauty in 2015.
