They sent a team of willing volunteers to Ty Olwen on Wednesday 7th June who worked all day clearing the overgrown shrubs and borders. Thank you to all who gave donations and time for the project.

Running for Ty Olwen
Huge Congratulations to Attila for once again running the London Marathon for Ty Olwen. “I have every admiration for anyone who trains for, runs in and finishes the London Marathon”, said Mrs Murray, Chairman of Ty Olwen Trust, “but Attila is absolutely incredible, because he has done it twice for us.” Atilla is pictured proudly displaying his medal and Ty Olwen vest.

Donation in memory of Sarah Davies
It was good to meet Tricia and John Greenwood recently who were visiting Swansea to make a donation of £1000 in memory of their daughter Sarah Davies who died last August. Tricia and friend Jane Beckley did a sponsored walk of 40 miles along half of the South Down Way in Sussex and her niece Melanie Griffiths who runs a dance group held a fundraiser at Tesco on the Isle of Wight and the Greenwood family also made a personal donation. They said “We would like to express our sincere appreciation for the nursing care given to Sarah at Ty Olwen and the special attention and kindness given to them from all the staff”.
Congratulations to Rev Lance Sharpe
The Chairman and Vice-Chairman were delighted to be present at Brecon Cathedral to witness the Ordiantion of Rev. Lance Sharpe, the Lead Chaplain for ABMU. Lance and his colleagues in the Chaplaincy team work tirelessly to give support to both our Patients, their Families and our Staff. The Ty Olwen Trust is always keen to support their work in whatever way it can. Congratulations to you Lance from us all at Ty Olwen.
The Rachel Waters Memorial Fund
When Rachel Waters died tragically some 8 years ago, her parents Kim and Paul and brother Tom set about keeping her memory alive by setting up the Rachel Waters Remembrance Fund and have raised many thousands of pounds for charity. This year they have chosen to support Ty Olwen and at the Loughor Workingmen’s Club recently a Fundraising Dinner was held when £4,500 was raised. This annual dinner is always well supported, and usually over subscribed, but the generosity of everyone last night by supporting the raffle and auction and those who sponsored the event made it an amazing event. The guest speaker was dual rugby international Brynmor Williams and the compere for the evening was Ryan Murray who both entertained the gathering with aplomb.
We were delighted to welcome Rachel’s family to Ty Olwen to receive this wonderful donation.
Bishopston Church Donation
Thank you to the parishioners of St. Teilo’s Church, Bishopston for their continued support to Ty Olwen and with a further donation of £200. Helen and Paul Murray were delighted to attend a Festival Service recently and receive the donation from the Rector, the Reverend Andrew Pearce.
