In Memory of Christopher Thomas

St. James' and Helen 006Helen and Paul Murray were delighted to attend St.James’s Church in the Uplands on Sunday to publicly thank the Vicar and congregation for the £1750 raised in memory of the Christopher Thomas a longstanding member of the church. The money was raised through a coffee morning, a donation from colleagues of the Rotary Club of Morriston and other donations. This visit continues a long established link between St. James’s Church and Ty Olwen which goes back to 1976 when the Church hosted for two consecutive nights a film show about the work of St. Christopher’s Hospice, Sydenham and the pioneering work of the Hospice movement and Dame Cecily Saunders its founder. Helen, then Bartlett, arranged for Dr Peter Griffiths to speak to a public meeting after the showing of the film and so overwhelming was the interest that the church was packed on both nights. The Vicar Mark Williams and Mrs Jan Thomas officially welcomed Helen and the end of the service.
