Ty Olwen Newsletter for February 2013

As was reported earlier we had great fun carol singing in the Swansea City Centre in December. Thank you to everyone who came along and helped raise £198. Also a big thank you to Joy’s (OT) husband Neal who very kindly provided everybody with a basket meal at the Rock and Fountain in Skewen to warm everybody up.

Ty Olwen Hospice Charity Shop

Our shop in High St is having a long awaited refurbishment in March (actual date to be confirmed) when it will close for a couple of weeks. We are planning a Grand Re-opening and are looking for new volunteers to join the faithful team who have been running the shop for many years. Please pass the word around and contact Volunteer Co-ordinator Julia if you know of anybody who would like to join the team.

Fundraising Night with Mark Douglas

The Occupational Therapy Department at Ty Olwen are organising a fundraising evening at The Rock and Fountain, Skewen on Friday 15th March 2013. Tickets are £3 each which includes entertyainment, nibbles and a raffle ticket fro a free Sunday lunch for 4 people. The purpose of the evening is to raise money for an ipad for the department. It will be used both on the ward and in the communityand enable patients to communicate with family and friends through SKYPE as well as accessing news and information and for therapeutic activities. An iPad would also be a big asset for the OT team themselves as it would enable them to instantly access information that might prove helpful to our patients.

Collecting

We are looking for volunteers to collect for Ty Olwen at the Aberavon Shopping Centre on 1st June and Neath Town Centre on the 22nd June. Collections on both days will take place between 10-00am until 2-00pm but even if you are only available for an hour we would be grateful. Please contact Delyth or Julia if you are able to come along and help.
